Plybowoods Ghana Limited (PGL) is a newly established limited liability company under the One-District-One-Factory (1D1F) Programme to develop bamboos as a substitute for traditional timber products. PGL’s main focus of business is the cultivation and processing of bamboo into products such as bamboo plywoods, Boards, Beams, doors, veneers, floor and wall panels as well as printing Papers and Tissues.
The other arm of the enterprise involves engaging local farmers in replanting of 50,000hectares of bamboos to reclaim degraded lands as a result of illegal mining and logging activities as a sustainable alternative livelihood activity of the local dwellers.
The Company’s goal in the next five years is to make an overwhelming impact on the bamboo industry and create a large consumer demand for the products.
